The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has urged the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to strengthen safety, operational efficiency, innovation and passenger experience as it marks 20 years of service.

Speaking at the launch of the anniversary celebrations, the Minister commended GACL for its role in developing and modernising airport infrastructure across the country.

He said the company’s efforts had contributed to domestic connectivity and supported key sectors of the economy, including tourism, trade and investment.

Nikpe reiterated the Ministry of Transport’s commitment to providing effective oversight of GACL to help position Ghana as a preferred aviation hub in West Africa.

He stressed the need for stronger air connectivity, sustainable infrastructure development, digital innovation and the effective integration of airports with other modes of transport.

According to the Minister, these priorities would be essential to improving airport operations, enhancing passenger experience and strengthening Ghana’s competitiveness in the regional aviation industry.

He urged GACL’s Board, management and staff to build on the company’s achievements over the past two decades and pursue higher standards of service delivery.

Nikpe also emphasised the importance of financial sustainability, encouraging the company to adopt measures that would support its long-term growth while maintaining efficient and reliable airport services.

As GACL celebrates its 20th anniversary, the Minister’s call highlights the need for continued investment, innovation and improved service standards to meet the evolving demands of the aviation sector.
