Touton Cocoa Company to increase production in Ghana

One of the world’s largest cocoa trading companies has announced plans to expand its operations in Ghana.

Tema-based Touton Cocoa Processing Company is to increase its production from 2400 to 6000 tons of beans in the next five years.

The French company has since employed 135 people with only three expatriates. With the increased capacity the company’s investment would reach $50 million and turnover would rise to $200 million.

During the period local purchases account for $85 million, including cocoa, salaries, energy, transport and services.

The president John Mahama has already paid a working visit to the company at the Tema enclave with the Ethiopian Prime Minister who was in the country for three days.

Managing Director of the company, Patrick Daivailleau cited the relative Socio political stability coupled with the friendly business environment as the decision to expand its operations in Ghana.

President Mahama and his Ethiopian counterpart Hailemariam Desalgn who held a close door meeting after the tour commended the company in creating job which they said was in line with industrialization agenda of the African continent.
