Managements of Tigo and Playing for Change are to choose two innovative entrepreneurs as ambassadors for improving the lives of children, a release copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday said.
The ambassadors are to be chosen from 900 competitors who have been pruned to only four in the highly contested game of ideas.
The release said on Friday March 29, the four social entrepreneurs would pitch ideas to a jury that is expected to include the acting General Manager of Tigo Ghana, together with the CEO’s of the other Kinnevik companies in Ghana – Bayport Financial Services, Consumer Finance Company and Viasat1.
Tigo is the senior partner for the Playing for Change foundation in Africa.
The release said with the participation of Tigo, Playing for Change had developed a program for improving the lives of children through the identification and support of social entrepreneurs.
“The social entrepreneurs use innovative individuals to change the world by way of entrepreneurial methods,” it said.
The program is to be rolled out across Africa between Playing for Change and Tigo.
The release said “the support goes beyond money – it also includes an incubator where the social entrepreneur gets professional support to develop, scale and become financially sustainable.”
Eight Senior Managers in Tigo have been appointed as advisors and they are dedicated to helping the social entrepreneurs develop their strategies.
The programme is supported by Bayport, CFC and Viasat1, the release said.**
