Drivers Warned About Speeding On Accra-Dodowa

Accra, (Greater Accra) 8 Oct.,

Drivers plying the rehabilitated Accra-Dodowa road have been advised not to ''overspeed just because the road surface is now smooth''. Mr. Petterson Asare, chairman of the Accra-Dodowa union of the GPRTU, who gave the advice, said there have been a number of accidents since the rehabilitation was completed. He attributed the accidents to reckless driving: ''innocent people should not lose their lives through the carelessness of a driver who takes the wide and smooth road for granted''. ''Those accidents were not through any mechanical faults but irresponsibility, carelessness and recklessness on the part of the drivers involved. ''Because the road has been made a first class one, drivers are always overspeeding and putting human lives at risk. It is for this reason that I am calling on all drivers on the Accra-Dodowa road to exercise restraint when driving''. Mr. Asare identified the Manhean and Oyibi sections of the road as the portions most prone to accidents.
