TUC Boss Advises Workers to Plan Early for Their Retirement

Accra, Oct. 8, GNA - The Secretary-General of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC), Mr Kofi Asamoah has noted that the deplorable conditions in which some workers find themselves after retirement is because they do not plan for their future before retirement. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the election of a committee of the women's wing of the Accra Area District Council of Labour, Mr Asamoah said it was advisable for workers to plan for their retirement about 10 years before going out of employment.

Mr Asamoah urged workers to rededicate themselves to their respective unions and to attend meetings regularly to acquaint themselves with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities. At the elections Madam Nawomi Quarcoe of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) was elected chairperson of the Committee, while Madam Sala Braimah was elected Vice Chairperson.
