The management and board of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) have denied an assertion by the Deputy Minister for Petroleum, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, that the proposal to scrap the refinery and turn it into a tank farm has been discussed between the two.

A statement issued and signed by TOR’s Public Affairs Manager, Dr. Kingsley Antwi-Boasiako, states that the board and management of TOR were aware of the said proposal.

It said the board, management and workers of TOR will never agree to any such proposal to turn TOR into a tank farm.

“We have just completed a shutdown maintenance of both the CDU and the RFCC. The focus of management and board and all the workers of TOR, a limited liability company, now is to refine crude oil into finished products to support the economy and nothing else.”

The statement is in direct reference to an online report on Thursday, May 10, 2018 about Dr Mohammed Adam’s position on TOR.
