The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has engaged stakeholders in the cashew industry ahead of the announcement of the minimum producer price for the 2025/2026 Raw Cashew Nut (RCN) season.

The meeting, held in Techiman in the Bono East Region, brought together farmers, traders, aggregators, exporters, processors and nursery operators across the cashew value chain.

A statement shared with the Ghana News Agency said the engagement focused on reviewing and explaining the parameters used in determining the minimum producer price for the upcoming season.

The official minimum producer price for the 2025 cashew season is expected to be announced on Monday, December 15, 2025.

According to the TCDA, participants were taken through the indicators informing the pricing model, including global market trends, production projections, quality standards and cost components.

They were also briefed on the approved pricing mechanism in line with the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act 1010) and the Tree Crops Development Authority Regulations, L.I. 2471 (2023), particularly Regulation 47(1).

The statement said stakeholders were guided through the pricing formula using a Free On Board (FOB) price of 1,400 United States dollars per metric tonne, based on 48 KOR/180 nut count with a maximum moisture content of 10 per cent, a six‑month average exchange rate of GH¢11.0241, and applicable statutory and operational costs.

Based on these inputs, the indicative price generated was 1,012.08 United States dollars per metric tonne, equivalent to GH¢11,157.34, based on 46 KOR/190 nut count with a maximum moisture content of 10 per cent, translating into GH¢11.157 per kilogram.

The TCDA said stakeholders subsequently agreed to adopt a round figure of GH¢12.00 per kilogram as the minimum producer price for the 2025/2026 RCN season.

They also agreed that the price would be reviewed periodically in line with market conditions and other pricing parameters.

Dr Andy Osei Okrah, Chief Executive Officer of the TCDA, said the engagement formed part of efforts to ensure transparency and stakeholder participation in price determination.
