Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has emphasized the importance of the country's revenue collection institutions supporting the government in generating the necessary revenue to meet the development needs of Ghanaians.

He argues that without sufficient revenue, financing the budget would be challenging, leaving loans as the only option.

Dr. Amin Adam expressed this during a visit to the staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority in Aflao, where he praised the staff for their significant contributions to mobilizing revenue for critical government programs.

"I am here to encourage you to increase your efforts and recognize the progress you have made in recent years," he said.

Referring to himself as the "cheerleader" of the GRA, the Minister assured them of his commitment to supporting them every step of the way, emphasizing a spirit of unity and teamwork.

He mentioned plans for reforms, including promotions for deserving staff, renovations of staff housing, and other incentives to motivate them in their work.

"I have a few months left as Finance Minister, but let's work together to make this year a memorable one for all of us," he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of leaving a legacy of effective revenue collection during his tenure.

The MP for Karaga also stressed the need to restore public confidence, which had been damaged by a few individuals tarnishing the image of the GRA.

He warned that appropriate sanctions would be applied to those who continue to harm the organization's reputation and hinder revenue mobilization.

The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ms. Julie Essiam, praised the Minister for his strong commitment to the welfare of GRA staff.

She echoed his call for increased revenue collection, especially during an election year, challenging the staff to ensure that revenue targets are met.
