Stock index slumps as downward trend continues

Accra, June 1, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange slumped on Monday, on the loss by several equities in trading that saw less than 100,000 shares changing hands. GSE All-Share index dropped a whopping 258.66 points to close at 7,237.36 points from Friday's 7,496.02 points. Change for the year to date now stands at -30.62 per cent. Traded volumes began the week at 86,200 shares, while market capitalisation was GH¢16,598.88 million. On the broader market, there were six price changes, five down and one up. SG-SSB lost GH¢0.03 at GH¢0.54; State Insurance Company lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.30; Ecobank Transnational lost GH¢0.02 at GH¢0.30; Ecobank Ghana Limited lost GH¢0.03 at GH¢1.97 and CFAO lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.03. The only gainer was Ghana Commercial Bank, which went up by GH¢0.02 at GH¢0.50
