Stock index plummets on ETI, Cal losses

Accra, June 17, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) plummeted in trading on Wednesday on the back of losses by Ecobank Transnational Incorporated and CAL Bank Limited. The main benchmark GSE All-Share index lost 62.21 points at 6,023.95 points from Tuesday's 6,086 points. Change for the year to date is -42.25 per cent. Traded volumes ended the day at 59,800 from Tuesday's close of 131,200 shares while market capitalisation fell at GH¢15,599.70 from GH¢15,688.77. On the broader market, there were two price changes, both negative. CAL Bank lost another GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.26 while Ecobank Transnational Inc. also lost GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.19.
