Stay loyal and committed to LGWU ...General Secretary

Accra, Oct. 7, GNA - The Local Government Workers Union (LGWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), today charged its members to remain loyal and committed to the union.

The Union said following the decision of the Civil Servants Association to change its name to Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLGSA), the LGWU says its status remains as such and that the change of name does not mean a merger. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on Wednesday in Accra, Mr Joe Boahen, General Secretary of the Union, said members should not be misled by the name of CLGSA or allow themselves to be drawn into it.

Mr Boahen said it has come to the notice of LGWU that some people are peddling false propaganda creating the impression that the Union and the Association have merged, and described the suggestion as untrue. He therefore urged workers of the Local Government Service to join the LGWU which is the mother union.
