The Manager, Corporate Communications at the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Eric Mireku Amaning, has emphasised that Starbow Airlines can still operate, despite the minor accident of the Accra-Tamale bound flight BAe aircraft with registration 9GSBB, on Tuesday.
Mr Eric Amaning says experts in accident within the aviation industry have since moved to Tamale to conduct full-scale investigations to ascertain the cause of Tuesday’s accident.
Speaking on Kasapa 102.3 FM on Wednesday, the GCAA official said the authority will be able to make informed decisions after the team have finished its work on the investigation of the unfortunate incident.
“Other crafts of Starbow can still operate; we’ll not ground them. If you have two cars, Benz/Bmw and one is involved in accident; you cannot stop using the other just because one of them has a problem. Besides, this is a minor accident, ” he added.
Starbow’s Chief Executive Officer, James Eric Antwi, confirmed the “minor incident” in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said the BAe aircraft with registration 9GSBB went through the barricade at the end of the Tamale Runway and stopped.
Meanwhile, Antwi says the management of the airline feel troubled with its spate of accidents within a period of 1 year, saying the month of October appears to bring bad luck for their airline since its problems have happened in that month.
Nonetheless, he said the airline is safe in business.
