Some 200 beneficiaries complete training under YESDEP in the Ahanta West

Some 200 beneficiaries from 133 communities in the Ahanta West District, have completed skills training under the Youth Enterprises and Skills Development Programme (YESDEP).

Mr. Eric Kofi Hope, Western Regional Coordinator of YESDEP, announced at a meeting with the beneficiaries at Agona-Nkwanta at the weekend.

Courses undertaken by the trainees included hairdressing, barbering, tailoring and dressmaking, he said.

Mr. Hope said the trainees would soon receive start-up tools and equipment to enable them set up their own businesses.

He said the trainees would pay for the tools and the equipment in installment after two months grace period.

He said the Regional Youth Enterprises and Skills Development Centre hopes to train about 3,000 beneficiaries under the programme by November this year.

YESDEP is a subsidiary of Zoomlion Ghana Limited which is part of the Jospong Group of Companies and is a social intervention to reduce poverty. It works in collaboration with the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).
