Share Prices Firm On Low Volume

Accra, (Greater Accra) 27 Oct.,

Equities on the stock market today finished a drab session firmer, recording one of the lowest volumes. The GSE All-Share Index went up 2.18 points to 487.31 points, up from Friday's 485.13 points. Market sentiment was subdued with players, mostly individual investors, concentrating in the banking and manufacturing sectors. In the broader market, there were four gainers with no loser on a sluggish volume close of 6,590 shares as against Friday's 54,810 shares. Demand which stood at 8.6 million shares continued to remain ahead of offers 251,690 shares. Market capitalisation also continued its upward trend at 2,945.05 billion cedis up from 2,942.34 billion cedis. Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) led gainers with 100 cedis to close at 7,300 cedis. Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) climbed three cedis at 718 cedis Aluminum Works (ALW) gained 50 cedis to close at 2,350 cedis and Guinness Ghana Limited (GGL) rose five cedis to finish at 645 cedis.
