Iced water sellers to withdraw services

Kumasi, April 19, GNA - The Processed Drinking Water Association (PDWA)and the Iced Water Sellers Association have threatened to withdraw their services in the Kumasi metropolis as from Thursday, April 27, if the public continues to harass their members over price increases.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Wednesday and signed by Mr Charles Nicholas Amofa and Mr Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, executive Secretary and executive member of the PDWA respectively, said it had come to the notice of the associations that their members were being harassed for increasing the prices of their items.

The associations said they decided to increase the price of processed water from 100 to 150 cedis and iced water from 50 to 100 cedis because of the high cost of polythene bags and increased water and electricity bills.

The statement said labour, maintenance and rent had also gone up.
