An amalgamation of all seed value chain actors within the country, National Seed Trade Association Ghana (NASTAG), will be launched in Accra on Thursday, August 24, at the Coconut Groove Hotel.

NASTAG, conceptualized in November 2015 at a seed sector stakeholders’ workshop funded by the USAID Ghana Feed the Future Agriculture Policy Support Project (APSP), has supported in the building of capacity of seed enterprises on seed quality management.

The umbrella body has also engaged in sensitization of about 150 public and private seed value chain actors and stakeholders on Ghana’s seed sector reforms documents (seed law, policy and plan) in the Northern and Southern Zones of Ghana.

Ghana’s Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Owusu Afriyie Akoto is expected to launch and deliver the keynote address at the event which will officially introduce NASTAG to key public and private stakeholders (including Development Partners and the Government of Ghana) as the apex private seed sector organization, engaged in seed sector reforms in Ghana.

The event will also increase membership of NASTAG and enable it to play the leading role in conducting public-private dialogues for increased investments in the Ghanaian seed industry.
