Techiman Assembly Selected For VIP Project

Techiman (Brong Ahafo), 8 Oct.,

The Techiman District Assembly has been selected to benefit from a programme called the Village Infrastructure Project (VIP). This programme is similar to the international fund for agricultural development loan scheme which aims at alleviating rural poverty and would be supervised by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA). Mr. Francis Yaw Gyarko, district chief executive for Techiman made this known when he addressed the assembly. He said all conditions laid down for the opening of an account with the Agricultural Development Bank and the formation of a committee to manage the programme have been completed. Mr. Gyarko said as at the end of August, the assembly had collected 276.6 million cedis out of its estimated revenue of 1.3 billion cedis. He said this amount was generated from the district assembly's own resources.
