Second African SME Summit to be held in Accra

The second edition of the African Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) summit is scheduled to take place in Accra on Thursday November 5, to Saturday November 7.

Dubbed: “African SME Summit” it would be on theme: “Dreaming Africa.”

The three-day summit which would be organised by Vodafone Business Solution (VBS) in collaboration with Creative Trends Limited, seeks to offer a platforms for SMEs to learn from major industry players and also understand business growth essentials.

A statement signed by Ms Angela Mensah-Poku, Head of VBS, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday said, the summit would also provide networking and mentoring opportunities for SME owners, and avenues for them to showcase their products.

“With our passion to empower SMEs in Ghana, the enterprise arm of Vodafone Ghana, VBS, is headlining this developmental agenda,” it said.

The statement quoted Ms Mensah-Poku as saying SMEs are the main engines for economic growth and development globally, and they account for the highest number of registered companies in every economy.

“Fundamentally, they are important players for national development but face a number challenges that affect their growth and productivity.

“That is why this seminar has been designed to empower and offer SMEs with essential business knowledge and suitable telecommunications solutions that will increase their productivity, drive efficiency and increase growth,” it said.

It therefore noted that VBS as an SME-centric would continue to develop products and services which would be beneficial to SMEs.

According to the statement, the summit would present more than 20 speakers from high end businesses including Mr Haris Broumidis, Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone Ghana; Mr Edward Boateng, Chief Executive Officer, Global Media Alliance and Professor Atuahene Gyimah, Founder, Nobel International Business School and a professor of innovation among other speakers.

It named the HFC Bank, Guinness Ghana Limited, China Europe International Business School, Joy Fm, Graphic Business, Spynews and African Consumers as other partners.
