Samsung supports GJA with TV set

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA - The management of Samsung, manufacturers of home appliances and mobile phones, on Wednesday presented a 40-inch LED television set to the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) as part of its contribution to the growth of the Association. Mr Brovo Kim, Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa Limited, commended the GJA for its contribution to the development of journalists and socio-economic development. He noted that the Ghanaian market was very important to Samsung and that the company would work assiduously to penetrate it with its products.

He said due to the commitment Samsung had for Africans, it had opened outlets in all African countries and adopted a method dubbed "the Voice of the Customers" (VOC) by which consumers' needs and suggestions were factored into the manufacturing of products. Mr Kim announced the celebration of Samsung Cultural Week slated for the 7-9 September 2011 at the National Theatre. He pledged the company's commitment to the GJA Awards by announcing its willingness to sponsor the best reporter in Innovation and Technology.

Ms Monica Adukpo, Marketing Manager, Samsung Ghana, called for a closer collaboration between the GJA and Samsung Ghana and invited the executive of the Association to the Samsung Cultural Week. Mr Ransford Tetteh, GJA President, pledged the Association's commitment towards the creation of the best reporter in Innovation and Technology category by next year and announced the GJA's willingness to collaborate with entities desirous of supporting journalists. Mr Bright Blewu, General Secretary, GJA, appealed to Samsung to assist the Association with mobile phones and electronic score boards to facilitate the release of results to journalists and media outlets during 2012 election.

He called on Samsung to come out with modalities which would enable journalists to purchase their products under a flexible payment system. 31 Aug. 11
