The Corporate Affairs Manager of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Eva Amegashie says employers who do not pay their workers are flouting the stipulations of the National Pensions Act.

She says it is the right of every worker to have 13.5 % of their monthly salary paid to SSNIT. This is paid back to them as their pension benefits when they go on retirement.

Speaking to Atinka TV, Madam Amegashie said there are procedures that SSINT follows to deal with such employers and employees who have this challenge and asked them not to hesitate to report such employers to SSNIT.

There are instances where some employees face a lot of unfair treatment from their employers and one of these is their inability or refusal to pay their SSNIT contribution. For fear of losing their jobs, these workers are unable to take legal action against such employers who default in paying their SSNIT contributions. However, the Corporate Affairs Manager of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Eva Amegashie has advised employees who fall victim to such employers to report them to SSNIT to enable it to take legal action against them.
