The State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) has announced that it is leading a high-powered delegation to France for an energy sector study tour aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange and exploring innovative solutions to Ghana’s energy challenges.
According to SIGA, the delegation, comprising key stakeholders from across the energy sector, will engage with French counterparts to leverage expertise and experiences in renewable energy, grid management, and energy efficiency.
Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte, Director-General of SIGA, is leading the team, which includes senior officials from the Volta River Authority (VRA), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO), the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), the Energy Commission, and members of relevant parliamentary committees.

“The energy sector tour to France, sponsored by the French Development Agency (AFD), is a significant step towards bridging the knowledge gap and harnessing best practices in the energy sector,” Professor Kpessa-Whyte said.
“We are confident that our interactions with French energy experts will yield valuable insights and innovative solutions to drive Ghana’s energy sector transformation,” he added.
The tour will focus on France’s renewable energy sector, energy efficiency measures, and grid management systems, with engagements involving French energy companies, government officials, and industry experts.
SIGA emphasised that the initiative aligns with its mission to promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation in Ghana’s energy sector.

Outcomes of the tour are expected to inform policy decisions, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to the country’s energy sector development.
