Road Fund Board urged to be innovative

Mr Prosper Douglas Bani, Chief of Staff, on Tuesday called on the Road Fund Board to be innovative to secure the necessary resources that would help achieve President Mahama's road sector programme.

He said they could do this by dedicating themselves to the responsibility to ensure the performance and achievement of government's agenda.

Mr Bani said this when he inaugurated a 13-member Road Fund Board in Accra.

Members of the Board are; Alhaji Fuseini Inusah, Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr David Annan Bonny, Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Amin Abdul Rahaman, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Solomon Asoalla, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Madam Grace Francisca Adzro, Controller and Accountant General and Alhaji Aliyu Baba.

The rest are; Mr Stephen K. Okudzeto, GPRTU of TUC, Professor Mohammed Salifu, Ghana Institute of Engineers, Mr Joseph Kobina Ebo Hewton, Association of Road Contractors, Mr Kwaw Koomson, Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen, Nana Sammy Osei-Bonsu, Private Enterprise Federation and Messrs Henry Ametefe and Hamza Suhuyini.

Mr Bani said it was unacceptable for people to continue saying nothing was happening when government was doing everything under its purview to make Ghanaians comfortable.

"There may be delays or some challenges here and there, but that does not mean that nothing is happening," he said.

He challenged the board to use their position to support government to achieve its road sector mandate in the coming years.

Alhaji Inusah called on government to take advantage of the falling prices of oil on the world market to pay the real and actual funds to the board to enable it to work effectively.

He gave the assurance that the members would work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them.
