Management of Rlg, an indigenous communication network, has signed a partnership agreement with Microsoft to give value to the Ghanaian market and make the Microsoft window affordable.
Mr. Roland Agambire, Chief Executive Officer of Rlg in a press briefing, said the partnership was strategic because it would increase the market share in the West African Sub-region for Microsoft, as Rlg distributes computers using Microsoft’s software within the sub-region.
He said Microsoft developed most of the windows in computers and that based on Rlg’s handwork in trying to be innovative in the Information and Communication Technology sector, their outfit had attracted the attention of Microsoft.
He said the partnership with Microsoft would enable Rlg to launch Microsoft window 8 and would give credence to the quality of products they would offer to the Ghanaian market.
Mr. Agambire said most of Rlg’s MGS1 laptops would come with in-build modem where the modem would be connected with the laptop and that what would be needed is to buy a SIM card to browse.
He said Rlg quality assurance would increase because of its partnership with Microsoft and that the company had recently cut the sod to begin work on its assembly plants which would employ about 30,000 youth.
Mr. Emmanuel Onyeje, Country Manager for Microsoft Anglophone West Africa, said his outfit is honored to partner with Rlg adding that the relationship is an international one and that its outfit placed more emphasis on technology because windows is the heart of Microsoft.
He said the partnership is necessary because of the impact Microsoft had in the market environment coupled with the innovative products from Rlg which could help increase productivity and make government more efficient.
Mr. Onyeje said the partnership would help in the educational sector because the world is growing with technological advancement and therefore there was the need to be abreast with the new software to compete internationally.
He said the partnership would provide the country with genuine software in protecting property and intellectual rights from criminals adding that Microsoft would soon launch window 8 globally.
He expressed gratitude to the management of Rlg for the partnership and expressed the hope that it would open opportunities for the country’s market share to grow.
