ProCredit opens Airport branch

Accra, June 17, GNA - ProCredit Savings and Loans Company on Tuesday opened its Airport branch in Accra to facilitate better banking services to clients.

The expansion of the company's network is in line with its neighbourhood banking concept of bringing banking to the doorstep of prospective clients.

Mrs Cynthia Adigbo Nortey, Branch Manager, said the new branch had raised the total number of ProCredit branches to 14, operating in four regions with 130,000 clients.

She said the branch which was the second out of five planned to be opened this year would serve as one of the company's small and medium scale enterprises centres in the Greater Accra Region. Mrs Nortey noted that the branch which began operations in April had already opened over 200 accounts and raised a deposit volume of GH¢138,000.

She said the company would continue to build its customer base to attain its mission of providing products and services to individuals who did not have access to financial services from the traditional banking sector.

Ms Edwige Takassi, Managing Director, said the company's deposits as of May amounted to GH¢ 26.2 million cedis with a loan portfolio of GH¢ 23.4 million cedis spread over 16,128 outstanding loans. She therefore expressed optimism that the new branch through its neighbourhood banking concept would impact positively on the company's drive to offer tailor-made products and services to meet clients' needs. Ms. Takassi stated that the company was also developing its agricultural loans portfolio to help develop the sector.
