Philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has warmly welcomed Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama during a high-level meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
The two leaders engaged in meaningful discussions focused on global development, healthcare, and strategies to promote equitable growth across Africa.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Global Summit on GAVI Vaccine Replenishment, where President Mahama is participating as both an advocate and ambassador.
The summit seeks to mobilise support for vaccine replenishment efforts to immunise children globally and protect lives from preventable diseases.
In a communiqué issued on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, it was announced that President Mahama’s visit to Brussels includes key engagements with major global leaders, including the President of the European Union Council of Ministers and Bill Gates.
The discussions between President Mahama and Bill Gates are expected to emphasise shared interests in strengthening public health systems, expanding access to education, and fostering sustainable development throughout the African continent.
President Mahama, who has long been recognised for his leadership and advocacy on development issues, expressed his gratitude for Bill Gates’ sustained commitment to health and education initiatives in Africa.
Both parties are expected to reaffirm their shared dedication to collaborative efforts aimed at addressing some of the region’s most pressing challenges, particularly improving healthcare access and supporting global vaccination campaigns.
