The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, has criticised the current John Dramani Mahama-led NDC government, describing its record as poor.
He particularly lambasted the administration for its failure to sustain power supply, attributing recent outages to the previous Mahama administration and saying they confirm his “bad record” in power management.
Professor Nyarko stated that the ongoing power crisis, popularly dubbed “Dumsor”, is a result of the NDC’s poor governance.
“The NPP administration had stable power, but under this government, we’re experiencing outages again. During President Mahama's previous tenure, he became known for these continuous power outages. Under his current administration too, we are witnessing similar incidents, something that clearly exposes a high level of incompetency,” he said.
He further blamed the NDC government for mismanaging various sectors.
“The NDC government must bow their heads in shame. Everything is in a mess. At 69 years, instead of us moving forward, this present government is dragging us backwards,” Professor Nyarko added.
The disappointed lawmaker revealed that “yesterday, almost every part of Kumasi was in darkness.”
He also criticised the government’s handling of the economy, citing the high cost of living and the reduction in cocoa prices, which he said is adversely affecting farmers.
Professor Nyarko urged the government to take immediate action to address both the power crisis and the economic challenges.
The MP made these remarks during Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations.
He added that despite the nation’s progress since independence, the NDC government’s poor performance continues to send the country backward.
