Phase Two of TOR expansion attracts Samsung

Seoul, Nov. 8, GNA - The Korean Industrial giant, Samsung, has expressed interest to carry out the phase two of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) expansion project.
In addition, the Company has also set its eyes on the country's railways sector, the mass transportation system and energy through the supply of two generating plants with the capacity to generate 150 megawatts of electricity.
President John Agyekum Kufuor, during a meeting with a delegation of the Comapny in Seoul, led by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sung Ha Chi, on Wednesday, told them to submit their proposals.
He however, pointed out that, this would be subject to the laws of Ghana, as the open system that allows for transparency, would have to apply.
He said, whatever contract, which would be signed between TOR and the Company should be structured to their mutual benefits, adding, "We will insist on value for money."
President Kufuor, who was in Seoul to participate in the first Korea-Africa Forum also met with a delegation of the Exim Bank of Korea on the financing of projects in Ghana.
He leaves for Tokyo to begin a two-day official state visit on Thursday.
Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Foreign Minister, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, Minister of Energy and some senior Government officials are accompanying the President.
