Thousands of workers belonging to the General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers Union are striking from tomorrow, Tuesday June 16, 2015.

They are protesting delays in the reinstatement of some dismissed MODEC workers on the FPSO.

The workers were sacked last year over an industrial action to demand better conditions of service.

Chairman of the Workers union Samuel Quashie told Starr News MODEC has refused to reinstate the workers after an agreement with government.

“It has taken too long for management to bring the workers back. It appears management has taken an entrenched position. So, we think it’s a deliberate attempt to deny Ghanaians work.

“The minister has spoken and asked that they are reinstated so we should do everything possible to ensure that they are brought back. So from today if we don’t hear from the management of MODEC then our structures will quickly meet and take a position,” he said.
