Patronise GRATIS machines – Spio Garbrah

Mr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, the Minister of Trade and Industry, has called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and the business community to patronise farm gate adaptable machines manufactured by GRATIS foundation to reduce post harvest losses.

According to him, the affordable machines for fufu making, cassava processing, palm oil extraction built by the foundation and the fact that it can build machines for the processing of many other crops according one’s specification, makes it a valuable partner in food processing and the overall national development agenda.

Mr Spio-Garbrah made the appeal during a familiarisation tour of the Gratis Foundation in Tema after visiting Uniliver and later Cargill Ghana limited.

He said Ghana’s industrialisation holds the key to mass quality employment and true national independence because “having control over what you eat and use and having surplus to sell is the way forward.”

He asked the foundation to devise marketing strategies to sell its services and products to the public.

Mr Emmanuel Asiedu, the Chief Executive Officer, GRATIS, said the foundation was developing an educational module which emphasizes on technology transfer to get more Ghanaian youths into industry and creativity.
