Parliament approves budget estimates for MDAs

Accra, March 11, GNA - Parliament on Friday unanimously approved the Budget estimates for the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for the fiscal year 2005.

The Budget for the MDAs that were approved are those of the Ministry of Works and Housing - nine hundred and sixty-four billion, seven hundred fifty-four million cedis (964,754,000,000.00); Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) - twenty-five billion, two hundred and forty-two million cedis (25,242,000,000.00), the Electoral Commission (EC) - thirty-one billion, eight hundred and ninety-seven (31,897,000,000.00) and National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) - thirty billion, seven hundred and one million cedis (30,701,000,000.00).

The others are the National Media Commission (NMC) - one billion, five hundred and one million cedis (1,501,000,000.00); National Commission on Culture (NCC) - forty-eight billion, two hundred and twenty-eight million cedis (48,228,000,000.00); Ministry of Trade and Industry - two hundred and ten billion, three hundred and seventeen million cedis (210,317,000,000.00); National Labour Commission (NLC) - five billion, eight hundred and seventy-five million cedis (5,875,000,000.00); Ministry of Private Sector Development and President's Special Initiatives (PSD/PSIs) - one hundred and forty-four billion, two hundred and eighty-nine million cedis (144,289,000,000.00) and Lands, Forestry and Mines - four hundred and fourteen billion, five hundred and fifty-three million cedis (414,553,000,000.00).

Earlier, Mr Abraham Ossei-Aidooh, Deputy Majority Leader, presented the Business Statement for next week to the House. He notified members that the Appropriation Bill for the year 2005 would be presented next week and that the House was expected to rise sine die on Friday, March 18.
