PSI to draw business plan for Ho District

Ho, Feb. 3 GNA - The Ministry of Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiatives would soon draw up a business plan for the Ho District Assembly for the establishment of a cassava/starch production and processing under its Rural Enterprise Development Programme (REDP).

Mr Mawutor Goh, Ho District Chief Executive (DCE), told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that the Assembly prioritise cassava production under the scheme in addition to beekeeping, Kente, garment and textiles production in which the District has comparative advntage.

He said the selection was done at a stakeholders meeting comprising representatives of chiefs, business entities, nongovernmental organisations, Assembly Members and Urban, Town and Area Councils in the District.

The DCE urged the people of the District to support the projects to enable them to derive maximum benefit when the project takes-off. He said the District had been twined to Lakeworth County in Florida in the United States (US) as a follow-up to the US-Africa Sister Cities conference held last year in Accra.

Mr Goh said an agreement to enable both cities to collaborate had been signed and, therefore, urged the people to re-package their cultural heritage and to maintain high environmental and sanitation standards.
