Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that the ‘One-Village, One-Dam’ project of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is due to kick-start this year and about 570 dams will be constructed in the three regions of the north.

Dr Bawumia made this known at the National Youth Authority’s Youth Entrepreneurship Forum at the Accra Digital Centre on Friday, March 23, 2018

He assured Ghanaians that government will in the coming weeks launch the ‘’one village one dam policy’’ to provide other interventions in the agricultural sector, which is expected to have a great impact on Ghana’s food security and improve lives in farming communities.

He further recounted how the NPP was mocked by opposition parties when the initiative was introduced during their campaign in 2016.

‘’When we laid this promise again it was thought to be a 419 matter. This year by the grace of God we will construct 570 dams in the three northern regions of Ghana. When I announced last week that we will construct 570 dams our opponents were up in arms saying we intended to only create 100 so why do we now want to create more than that? Well, if I can do more than that I’ll build even more than 570 dams,’’ he noted.
