Odotobri Rural Bank Limited at Jacobu in the Amansie Central district of the Ashanti Region, in its quest to make much socio-economic impact particularly within its operational territories, has developed a loan product for the visually impaired to support their economic activities.

This special loan package for the blind is in collaboration with the Ghana Blind Union, GBU, with the primary objective to make the skillful blind person more resourceful and independent in society.

According to the CEO of the Bank, Mr. Siaka Ahmed Baba, the bank deems it important to put active economic activity into the lives of these vulnerable persons in society -- who are skillful but will require credit-support to earn a dignified living and also possibly take on the role of breadwinners for their relatives, instead of becoming a burden for others.

Mr. Paul Owusu, Madam Hagar Appiah and Madam Cecilia Arthur are some beneficiaries of the Odotobri /GBU loans. The Board and Management of the bank have launched this special service rendered to the visually impaired.

Odotobri Rural Bank Limited for the past three years has been making some very significant economic impacts which are highly commendable, particularly in the area of corporate social responsibility and scholarship offers to brilliant but needy students of shareholders.

The bank was adjudged the CIMG Rural Bank of the Year 2012 and has been awarded with the Gold category of the International Star for Leadership in Quality Award at the Concorde Convention Hall in Paris.

The bank was recognised for this prestigious international award for its commitment to Quality, Leadership, Technology and Innovation, and has remained a member of the Club 100 in Ghana since its inception.

The bank came first in deposit mobilisation among the 141 rural banks in Ghana as per the Efficiency Monitoring Report of the Apex in December 2014.
