Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Koans Estate, Kofi Anokye has said government’s decision to remove taxes that are termed as ‘nuisance taxes’ did not affect businesses in any way.

He explained that the removal of import levy on spare parts and 17% taxes on domestic airfare tickets rather increased the cost of importing spare parts and domestic airfare prices.

In assessing the first year performance of the Nana Akufo-Addo administration the Koans Building Solutions CEO stated clearly that government cannot boast of the removal of nuisance taxes as a way of making businesses survive in the country.

He said the nuisance taxes removal did not have any positive impact on businesses of the country.

“The removal of nuisance taxes was a political facial dressing by the government because it did not affect the cost of doing business positively” he stressed.

Mr. Anokye believes the NPP government only chose what is convenient and not what is necessary when it comes to taxing and removal of taxes.

He later rated the government 48% on the removal of nuisance taxes.
