Nominations are now open for the eleventh Ghana Property Awards (GAPOA), an event designed to honour outstanding individuals and companies in Ghana’s Real Estate, Property and Construction Sector.

The awards, being organised by Property Express Group Ltd in collaboration with the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA), Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing and other stakeholders is themed, “Developing the economy through infrastructure”.

Ahead of the main event scheduled for November 24, 2018 at the World Trade Center in Accra, the organisers are calling on the government and the Housing Ministry to find innovative ways of reducing further burden on real estate developers and infrastructure providers to enable them deliver homes at affordable prices.

Director of the Ghana Property Awards, Irene Agyenkwa, in a statement, underscored the need for industry players to operate in environmentally friendly conditions by adhering to good construction and design practices in their struggle to achieve excellence.

She said, in the bid to recognise developers who, in addition to putting up quality buildings and roads, the organisers of the GAPOA have taken up the initiative to proffer a lasting solution to maintenance culture and waste management solutions.

“Innovative marketing strategies to create wealth for real estate investors and open up value for money for tenants”, according to Madam Agyenkwa, are also being explored.


About the Ghana Property Awards

It is a national award dedicated to celebrating excellence in Ghanaian Real Estate, Infrastructure Construction and service providers in the industry.

The Awards, set up to encourage competition and competitive pricing in the Property & Construction Industry was carefully designed to recognize the efforts of both established and up and coming firms.

In addition to Awarding the Property Industry, the awards ceremony serves as a convergence platform for the Industry players. It further offers the platform for the Property Sector, particularly GREDA to address some concerns and channel its grievances and petitions to the Ministry of Housing. Government also gets the opportunity to engage with developers at the Awards.

Over the years, GAPOA has sought to standardize practices in the Real Estate Sector by setting benchmarks, which submitted projects must adhere to. GAPOA has also sought to promote innovativeness, insurance and maintenance cultures in the Sector by putting weights on these in the judging process.

The awards scheme will be looking at new market development with the aim to support the promotion of wholesale and retail market operations, allowing for better recognition of their vital role, support and contribution to national, regional and global demand for property and its related services as the Ghana government seek to accelerate infrastructure development in Ghana.
