Newmont Gold Limited Invests In Human Development

Newmont Gold Limited has stuck a working agreement with the National Vocational Training Institute, NVTI under which it will equip some training centres of the NVTI around the country with the requisite tool and equipment to train unemployed youth in mechanical and electrical engineering.

Under the same deal, unemployed youth in the Newmont mining concession in Brong Ahafo are being trained in basic block laying and masonry techniques at the yamfo NVTI centre.

Twenty-eight men and women selected from the concession areas just ended a two-week training session at yamfo.

The training programme initiated by the company in line with its social l responsibility aims at establishing a construction pool to enable the local people to get jobs in its mining project in the region.

Management training officer of the company, Collin Maddocks, told the trainees the completion of course did not mean an immediate employment for them but assured them that they would be considered first if their assistance is needed.
