Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that newly constructed passport offices in Ghana’s six newly created regions are ready for commissioning.
In a Facebook post, the minister said the development marks the first time in Ghana’s history that all regions will have their own passport offices.
He explained that this will ease the burden on applicants who previously had to travel long distances to other regions to process their passports.
Ablakwa further said the initiative forms part of the “Reset Agenda” promised by President John Dramani Mahama, aimed at improving access to essential services nationwide.

“I have kept my promise of establishing seven Passport Application Centres this year in all the regions lacking them, and also reduced the Passport Application Fee by 30% — from GH¢500 to GH¢350,” he stated.
The minister noted that the commissioning comes at a timely moment, as many Ghanaians prepare to travel abroad to support the Black Stars in upcoming tournaments in the United States and Canada.
He described the expansion as a milestone in decentralizing passport services and reaffirmed government’s commitment to making public services more accessible.
