Nestlé Ghana has launched the all new Cerelac Iron+ yesterday at the Accra International Conference Center.
The improved Cerelac is fortified with iron that helps support healthy brain and cognitive development.
The infant cereal with milk for babies contains iron which the regular breast milk is not enriched with. The complementary food if given alongside breast milk will ensure healthy growth of babies.
The new Cerelac Iron+ is available in five variant forms; Wheat, Maize, Rice, Fruit pieces and Millet all in 400g and 50g sizes.
Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba speaking at the launch stated that the ministry will by this product help eradicate poverty and flash out hunger by the 2030 as the product is a good feeding point. She also stated the ministry has outlined programs to support the less fortunate in society especially "Kaya Yea".
Business Executive Officer, Nutrition, Central West Africa, Philippe Hascoet, also mentioned that the Nestlé will collaborate with health works to educate mothers on the importance of iron in babies complementary food using Cerelac Iron+.
Obaapa Christy was at the launch to entertainment the numerous mothers and health care professionals who came for the launch.
There were series of presentations throwing light on appropriate baby feeding procedure.
Also in attendance was Professor Afua Hesse who chaired the launch and Dr. Gloria Otu.
