Nationwide Closes In On Ghanair?

The Acting Chief Executive and Board Chairman of Ghana Airways, William Panford Bray was reportedly in South Africa recently, to seal a deal with Nationwide Airlines for the lease of a Boeing Jet to enable Ghana Airways to activate the Accra-Johannesburg-Accra route. There is increased suspicion that this move, which is suspected to have been sealed, is part of a grand scheme to give Nationwide a start in taking over Ghana Airways.

Ghana Airways staff are swearing that it is a done deal orchestrated by Mr. Bray with support from the Transport Minister, Dr Richard Anane. Ghana Airways cannot fly the Johannesburg route because it has a difference of $1.2 million to settle on a DC 10 aircraft that is currently parked in a hanger at the Accra International Airport. The plane cannot fly because the owners are demanding the said sum.
