The National Lottery Authority of Ghana (NLA) on Wednesday May 8, 2019 officially launched a collaboration with KEED-NLA Ghana to usher in a new frontier in e-lottery and digital gaming. The launch was held at the plush Kempinski Hotel Garden, Gold Coast city and had in attendance project and strategic partners from Ghana, across Africa and the globe.

In his speech, the Board Chairman of the NLA, Togbe Francis A.S. Nyonyo, said the collaboration was birthed from the NLA’s objective of making digital gaming more accessible to Ghanaians across all walks of life. This he said will enable Ghanaians enjoy the entertainment of lottery on their own terms, being able to play anytime, wherever and getting rewarded instantly for wins and effectively introducing e-lottery gaming to the connected Ghanaian.

The evolution of lottery gaming in Ghana, spearheaded by the Director General of the NLA, Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw and Mr. Alex Dadey, Executive Chairman of KEED-NLA, harnessed the power of the mobile phone and the giant strides made by various stakeholders, NCA and mobile operators (MTN, AirtelTigo, Vodafone), in driving a connected digital economy to create a convenient user-friendly mobile e-game that can be accessed conveniently by all Ghanaians.

The special guests at the event, Mr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed (Min. of Business Development) and the representative for Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (Min. of Communications) in their respective speeches referenced the significant role of government and their respective ministries in creating an enabling environment for job creation, fostering business continuity and improving the general wellbeing of all Ghanaians.

The first of these e-lottery games, Lucky 3, was officially out doored during the event and can be played now by anyone of legal gambling age (18+) with a connected mobile phone and via mobile money. During the event, the Business Consultant for KEED-NLA, Mr. Jesse Agyepong, explained the simple mechanics of the game saying, to play the game customers are to dial the universal short code *987# and follow the prompts and all they have to do is choose 3 numbers from 0 to 9 to win.

He further explained that, customers can play Lucky 3 via mobile money from GHc 2 and above and with the best winning odds in the market stand a chance to win up to 300 times their stake if their selected numbers match the exact order of numbers in the draws that occur every 10 minutes. Numbers that match the 3 draw numbers but not in order get their stake multiplied by 6 times, if 2 numbers match in any order stake is multiplied by 2.5 times and for customers who have only one digit matching the drawn numbers the stake is returned for another free play, so in effect everyone who matches at least 1 number wins.

He indicated there is no waiting time and all winnings are paid instantly into customers mobile money account and there is a weekly ultimate jackpot where all the players within the week stand the chance of winning up to GHs 500,000 during the live jackpot show Thursdays at 9.30pm on TV3.
The event concluded with a media Q & A about KEED-NLA and the Lucky 3 game, cocktail networking session and special guest artiste performances with live band music.
