Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has praised the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, for his prompt and innovative response to a question on job creation.

During a recent discussion on youth employment challenges on social media, Nana Aba Anamoah asked how 2,000 jobs could be created from coconut husks, a largely untapped local resource in many communities.

In response, Malik Basintale proposed converting the husks into charcoal, highlighting a practical and sustainable approach to generating employment while also promoting environmental conservation.

He emphasised that such initiatives could empower rural communities, provide alternative income streams for young people, and reduce waste from agricultural by-products.

“That's a true mark of good leadership,” Nana Aba Anamoah remarked, commending the YEA CEO for his swift and solution-oriented thinking.

The initiative underscores efforts by the Youth Employment Agency to create jobs through local resources while promoting economic and environmental sustainability.

Malik Basintale has indicated that the YEA is exploring partnerships with private sector actors and NGOs to scale such initiatives, ensuring that more youth across the country benefit from practical, skills-based employment opportunities.
