NCBC adopts ‘Vodafone Wholesale’ as its brand name

Accra, Aug 19, GNA - The National Communications Backbone Company (NCBC), a wholly subsidiary of Vodafone Ghana, has launched Vodafone Wholesale as its brand name.

The re-branding would offer NCBC, the needed global reach and expertise to offer unmatched service quality and customer experience.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra signed by Mr. Kenneth Asare, Acting Head for Vodafone Wholesale said, “Dedicated to meeting the bandwidth needs of Internet Service Providers, Mobile Network Operator’s and the Government, NCBC shall still remain the business name, but will market its services under the brand name, Vodafone Wholesale.”

It said, “As the world’s leading mobile telecommunications company and the 5th largest brand in the world, Vodafone has a proven track record of understanding and delivering what wholesale businesses need to succeed.”

The statement said the business would also derive economies of scale from the Vodafone network capabilities globally, thereby passing on the benefits to the wholesale customers to enable them to grow their businesses.

“The business is also pursuing plans to extend its market reach to the landlocked countries of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger to offer a wider market to wholesale customers, thus giving real meaning to its desire to taking the business of its wholesale customers to another level and seeing Ghana as the ICT gateway to the sub region,” it added.

Currently, Vodafone Wholesale has network coverage comprising underground and overhead fiber in the south, middle and northern parts of the country as well as metropolitan fiber network in some parts of the country.

It noted that the Northern fiber ring, which was financed solely by Vodafone Ghana at a cost of USD $40.00 million, completed the NCBC’s fiber optic loop from the southern part of the country through the middle part that was inherited under that Sale and Purchase Agreement with the Government of Ghana.

“It gives us the opportunity therefore to leverage on Vodafone’s trusted brand and the huge global platform to deliver wholesale services to our customers. This obviously gives us a strong competitive advantage to serve our customers better,” it said.
