The Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) has since 2016 created more than 12,000 jobs with the coming on board of its Eagle Lager brand, ABC News Ghana can report.

According to ABL, the introduction of the Eagle Lager brand onto the Ghanaian market has generated direct employment for more than 300 farmers while the entire value chain of the business has led to the creation of more than 12,000 jobs countrywide.

Speaking at the Eagle Lager Media Tour at the company’s headquarters in Accra last Friday, Corporate and Legal Affairs Director of the company, Adwoa Arthur, said the company has spent in excess of GHC17.8 million sourcing raw materials locally. This, she believes, has helped boost significantly the demand for products such as cassava and maize.

The company has also invested in solar powered mechanized boreholes as well as other irrigation facilities to help farmers increase their yield all year round. Some of the areas that serve as raw material hubs for ABL currently include Adaklu, Adidome, Ho, Oti region and so on.

It is the belief of management of the company that the country will continue to cash in on ABL’s decision to source raw materials locally. It will reduce the need for dollars while helping grow Ghana’s economy.
