A self-proclaimed mobile money fraudster has come forward, claiming that he has been tormented by spiritual "beatings" since swindling a businesswoman out of GH¢15,000.
According to him, "spiritually, a young boy comes to whip me every night when I sleep and the marks are there on my back."
The scammer, who spoke on Sompa FM in Kumasi, revealed that he had monitored the businesswoman's mobile money transactions and pretended to be her business partner who was supposed to receive money from her.

He explained, "I monitored the businesswoman who was supposed to send the money to one of her business partners. After I became aware that the woman had loaded the money into her wallet account, I quickly placed a call to her and pretended that I was the one she intended to transfer the money to."
He successfully deceived her into transferring the funds. He later blocked her number to avoid detection, saying, "The woman got deceived by my fraudulent tactics and quickly transferred the said amount to me, after which I blocked her from being able to call me back."
However, he claims that the spiritual "beatings" have made it impossible for him to sleep properly, but all efforts to connect to his victim and refund the money have also failed.
He stated, "He [the boy who whips him spiritually] tells me to return the money to his mother, and this has persisted for a long time now, so I can hardly sleep, but the woman too doesn't respond to my numerous calls to her."
He sought assistance from Sompa FM to locate the woman and return the GH¢15,000, hoping to get some peace.
The incident highlights the growing concern about mobile money fraud in Ghana, with many netizens expressing worry about the increasing cases of such scams.
It will be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohunu explained how some mobile money fraudsters who are inmates of the Nsawam Prison unknowingly targeted him in mobile money fraud scheme.
