Methodist Church raises funds for educational projects

Akim Adasewase(E/R), Jan. 8, GNA - The Methodist Church at Akim Adasewase in the Atiwa District, had raised over 15 million cedis at its annual harvest in aid of its educational development projects. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Adasewase on Sunday, the Warden of the Church, Mr Berko Asante, said both the Primary and JSS Schools of the church were in deplorable conditions and immediate action were needed to be taken to rehabilitate them.

He mentioned the need for adequate furniture, renovation of the classrooms and completion of work on the Mission quarters. The chief of the town, Osabarima Kwame Tia, II, appealed to government to come to the aid of the town by rehabilitating the 4.5-kilometer road from Adasewase to link the Accra - Kumasi truck road. He said the community had lined up a number of projects to improve the living conditions of his people, including the development of a waterfall into a tourist site, construction of a market, funeral ground, lorry station.

Osabarima Kwame Tia appealed to the Atiwa District, the Ministry of Roads and Highways and non-resident citizens of the community to assist in the development of the area. He said the power project would be extended to newly-developed areas of the community, saying, fund-raising activities would be organized to support the efforts of the District assembly.
