The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated a new board for the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), urging members to work hard to grow Ghana’s export volumes.
At the ceremony on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, according to citinewsroom.com, she said strong export performance is key to building up Ghana’s foreign exchange reserves, which would help keep the cedi stable.
"I am sure this board has what it takes… at the end of one year, they should be able to account for a stewardship which says that this board was able to steer the affairs of the exports space to the point that now our export volumes are very high. Everybody we need to make export thrive is on this table and so I don’t see any excuse anybody can have,” he is quoted to have said.
She noted that this mix of members provides a good chance to push GEPA’s goals and support local businesses.
She also praised the Bank of Ghana for extending the time for exporters to return their earnings from 60 to 120 days.
She said this will help bring in more foreign exchange.
She explained that the ministry is focused on growing exports to boost the economy, create jobs, and cut down on imports.
The minister urged the new GEPA board to deliver strong results within a year, saying all the right people are now in place to support export growth.
