Members of DIC urged to be fair and accountable

Accra, Oct. 13, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday, called on members of the Divestiture Implementation Committee (DIC) to be disciplined, fair, transparent and accountable in their operations. He said in the past, such attributes had not been exhibited in the operations of the Committee on the assets of the State that were sold or divested and as a result, Ghanaians were forced to wonder why the assets had been given out.

President Kufuor said this when he sworn into office four new members of the Comittee at the Castle, Osu.

They were Mr Charles OP, Nyanor, Chairman, Mr Alan Kyerematen, Minister of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiative (PSI), Mr Yaw Barimah, Minister of Manpower Development and Employment and Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. President Kufuor said government was determined to put a stop to what happened in the past without due diligence in the evaluation of the assets before being divested.

Mr Nyanor pledged that the Committee would discharge their duties to the best of their abilities and experiences to ensure transparency, fair play and equity in their operations.

He said they were aware of the problems faced by the Committee and would ensure the mistakes in the past were not repeated.
