Accra, (Greater Accra) 8 Oct.,

Ministries, Government Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were today reminded to comply with the order to open new accounts with the Bank of Ghana or forfeit their last allocations from October to December. Giving the reminder in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr. R. K. Tufour, Acting Controller and Accountant-General, said a majority of the MDAs have complied. The heads are also requested to submit details of both old and new accounts at the Commercial Banks and Bank of Ghana respectively, he added. This submission forms the basis for clearance by the Controller and Accountant-General's Department before the last quarter allocation of funds is approved. In a circular dated September 17, to all Departmental heads, Mr. Tufour said ''I have been directed to freeze the budgetary allocation of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies which fail to comply by latest 22nd September, 1997''.. Accordingly, it empowered all Chief Treasury Officers ''to freeze the budgetary allocations of the defaulting MDAs''.
