Management of ADPLF denies scam tag

Koforidua, July 13, GNA - The Management of Adom Print Legon Farming Scheme Limited (ADPLF), suppliers of agriculture inputs to farmers have distance itself from public perception that is operating a scam. Mr John Tetteh, Chief Executive Officer, told a press conference in Koforidua that more than 35,000 farmers had benefited from the activities of the scheme, since it was established two years ago. He said the beneficiary farming groups are registered and then supplied with inputs, ranging from equipment to seeds and instead of paying cash, they do so by exchanging the prevailing market price of their produce. He said ADPLFS has 35,000 registered farmers, in the country, 3,000 of which are in the Eastern Region. Mr Tetteh said the scheme had been successful until early this year, when some officials of the company engaged in dubious practices which bought the name of the company into disrepute. He explained that apart from reducing the financial burden of farmers, the scheme also minimises the stress and frustrations involved in marketing their produce.
