MTN launches new service

Accra, May 9, GNA - MTN, one of four mobile networks in the country, has introduced a new service, the SIM Swap Kit, under which customers would replace lost, stolen or faulty SIM cards without physically going to an MTN office.

A statement issued in Accra on Friday said the service was targeted at pay-as-you-go subscribers. It said MTN subscribers who wanted to replace a card should purchase a blank SIM card from any MTN retail outlets, call the MTN call centre on toll free 111 or 0244300000 to answer questions to confirm the ownership of their number.

"Once ownership is established, the subscriber's number will be reactivated on the new SIM card within a period of 24 hours." The statement quoted Mr George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, as saying this would create a convenient way of changing one's SIM card and customers were free to exercise the option of visiting the customer care centre to seek support for any issue. 9 May 08
